People Power Brum is searching for EVERYDAY HEROES across Birmingham to stand for election as independent candidates in the Council elections this May, and help return POWER to the PEOPLE.

Job Title: People’s Councillor
Salary: £16,267 per year, plus expenses for travel, childcare, phone calls, stationery, postage etc.
Hours: Part-time
Location: Birmingham


The FINAL DEADLINE for applications is Friday 30th March 2018.

You can stand for election to be a Councillor if you:

  • Are at least 18 years old.
  • Are a UK citizen, or a citizen of an EU or Commonwealth country.
  • Have a connection to Birmingham – ideally you will have lived or worked in Birmingham for at least 12 months (if you’re not sure on this, just ask us).
  • Have no reason that disqualifies you from standing e.g. if you have recently served a prison sentence, or if you already work for the Council (again, we’re happy to discuss this with you if you’re not sure).


What’s the selection process?

If your application looks good, we’ll arrange an interview with you to answer your questions and ours. And if you are successful, we’ll then guide you through the paperwork required to stand, and begin the exciting task of supporting your campaign and preparing you for success, in May and beyond!
